New for 2018 & the Direct Vision Standard

05 February 2018

On 30 September 2016 the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, launched the world's first Direct Vision Standard (DVS) for HGVs. It was created to improve the safety of all road users, particularly vulnerable road users like pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.

Using a star system, the DVS rates HGVs from 0 (lowest) to 5 (highest), based on how much a HGV driver can see directly through their cab windows, as opposed to indirectly through cameras or mirrors.

Therefore, the first new truck to be delivered to us this year is this DAF CF530 6x2 tractor unit that not only has a 4-way camera system and blind spot sensors but also a direct vision window giving the driver better visibility.

This vehicle has been given the fleet number V24 and named "Vesta" after the Roman Goddess of the hearth, home and family.

Featuring new sign writing for 2018, this vehicle goes on the road today and will be based out of our Yorkshire depot.
